  • 40 gallon breeder ''grow out"

I have a 40 gallon breeder set up as a grow out tank , it is empty at the moment I've been waiting to strip my frontosa and the day has come ! I filled the 40 gallon with 60% aquarium water from my 210 that the parents are in and the rest R.O water. I put a Hydor-Sponge v in it and a heater.
There is no substrate or decorations in the tank . Should I add some substrate from the 210 , for bacteria reasons or add hides ? Just leave it alone ? I am not putting the fry in the tank yet , they are going in a tumbler until their sacks go away. Is it ok to put them in the tank now ? They are free swimming, but their sacks are still intact . Thanks in advance .

I would run the sponges in the big tank while you wait, if you need to bring them over soon just bag up some of the substrate and throw it into the tank to "seed" the tank.

Cool , thanks I had it running in the big tank for a while . I was mainly wondering about the substrate . I'll throw some in some panty hose.

How long should I wait before putting them in the new tank ? Their sacks are pretty big but they were swimming quite a bit when I stripped her. { I only stripped her because I was afraid she would spit them out and they would be eaten } Thanks

If they going in a tumbler, leave it in the big tank if you are worried about the fry tank not being ready yet

Why RO mix in the breeder tank?
I ate my fish that died.

No real reason , my house has a water filtration system and R.O filtration for drinking water . I just think its cleaner thats all . Is it a bad idea to use ? [ Tanks not for breeding , Grow out ] Thanks

Have you checked the PH level of the RO water you use?
