  • Clear Filter Intake Strainer?

Does anyone know of a good clear one that may fit 1/2" to 3/4" pipe? A google image search brought up pics of replacement parts for the Whisper and Millenium 3000 power filters along with one from Turbelle but I am having a hard time finding the diameter of the connections for them. TIA

I am thinking about replacing my stock eheim piping with some clear PVC assemblies, I can source just about everything but the strainers so far. i would just get another pair of the sets that come with the pro III put the cost of those is just ridiculous. I like the CustomFlo stuff but its all balck and still pretty expensive.

Thebaoster and kiko made clear intakes for way less than what you are quoting.

i will likely photodocument it and post. its just too easy to make them and with these new high tech modular sets costing 80 bucks for a pair you have to try.

Why clear and not black? I'd think the clear ones would show the crud that builds up inside between cleanings in the same way hoses do.

i like the way clear is unobtrusive, it gives the feeling of more open space. but i dont like it for 8x the cost now that i have sourced it all

If you can match it to the color of your background, I think you might find it will do what you want. I think it's the contrast of colors between the tubing and the background that makes the tubing stand out so much. If nothing else, you can give it a try, and if you still don't like it, then you can pay the 8x extra for clear.

However, the only clear I have seen that's not obvious is glass (such as ADA). Clear plastic is not truly see-through. It's opaque. And that gives it a whitish look which may still stand out, especially if you have a dark background.

i will paint some black for now, i cant justify the cost for clear. since i work in the chemical industry, i can source PVC that is indeed very clear but at almost 10 bucks for a 1/2" slip tee. my next tank will have a styrofoam background and i will hide all the plumbing behind that. my 75 has become a 'lets see what happens if i..." kinda tank and is way too overstocked so i just really need to upgrade the filtration asap and stop mucking about lol.
