Replacing XP3 w/Eheim

I have had enough with my XP3. It's a great filter but I just don't get along with it at all.

So, I'm thinking of getting an Eheim to replace it. I have a 55g tank medium/heavy stocking, lots of plants. Also have a 2213 (?) running.

I'm considering a 2217, but don't know if I would need 1 or 2 to provide similar output to the XP3.

Any recommendations?

If you can't get along with an XP3........what make you think that an Eheim will be any easier ? I ask because they work pretty much the exact same way . If the XP3 is a great filter..........why can't you get along with it ?

I don't know why it and I don't get along, but I have to monitor it and clean it far more frequently than my eheim and for some reason, I don't mind cleaning the eheim as much.

Just personal preference at this point I guess.

I've never understood this statement . If you have to clean it more frequently ...then that means that is is doing a great job of filtering your tank . I have both Eheim and Rena XP3....and I just don't think that one is any better than the other .

LOL! My xp3 takes me about 10 minutes to unhook from the tank and clean what needs to be cleaned. Just make sure to use bags to hold the media if you get the 2217 cause there's no baskets in there.
