  • UV Sterilizer

So I picked up a Coralife TurboTwist 16w UV light last week. In theory, I know how to hook it up, but was wondering if there was an optimal way.

My tank has an eheim 2262 and a W/D with a Mag18 pump... so I don't think I can hook it up inline since the flow is too much.

Any suggestions on how I should set this badboy up?

I think if you add a longer return line it should slow down the flow within the UV range.

I was thinking about putting a MJ1200 in my sump and having the return go through the UV and then back into the tank. Think that will work?

I have the 9w version and am running a MJ400 in my sump. I just return back into the sump. My tank is 125 gal and mag 9.5. I had an aquaclear 402 driving the UV, but wanted to reduce the flow. The MJ 400 seemed to do the trick for me. The 1200 should work, it just depends how much flow you want. For parasite control, I believe the slower the better.

I don't want to reduce the flow on my existing filtration.

I thought about returning back to the sump too (simplest setup), but was not sure how effective it was to intake and drain into the same place.

I'm not sure about that either, though I would think with as much flow as you are getting through your sump, everything would get circulated just fine. I guess the other consideration would be whether or not your overflow would handle the extra flow from the MJ1200.

Put a T and reduce it to the flow back in the sump
