  • ammonia in tap water

I live in Spring. I just tested my tap water for ammonia and it was a sky high 2ppm. I had no idea it was that high. Thats like a uncycled tank. I think everyone should test their tap water for ammonia. Test your's and post it here.

Still no ammonia out here in the sticks, but I am sure the chloramines and the attached ammonia will be here soon.

        OMG! That's crazy!

Just tested ours. It's between 0 and .25, much closer to 0 though. Plus, they're kind of old test strips, so...

        That sucks, John. Yikes.

Generally no. Carbon removes "organic" chemicals as well as things like chlorine. Many other chemicals are not attracted to carbon, i.e. nitrates.

If your tank is cycled you will be ok.

Also, wet/drys are better filters to convert ammonia to nitrites, then to nitrates.

Canisters can do...but it's going to take longer.

Packed a new 100ft today but the BLAZING SUN liked to have killed me and I did not finish it. These freaks running my water system over here need to take a cup of bleach and a cup of ammonia dump them in a bucket and take a deep breath of the poison!

Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
