  • Growing Algae the EK way...







    all I do is stir the sand and clean the 3 front glasses because I want it to grow on the back glass

    tomorrow I will brush off all the equipment!

    That's how it starts!

    More flow, massive water changes will keep it off the substrate. I haven't had to stir sand for over a year now and when I did it the other week no detritus or gas pockets.

      wont the water changes loose all the nutrients

        can i ask WHY you guys let the algea grow everywhere? I know its good for Trophs but i see a Frontosa in one of those pics.

          its a mike senske thing you've got to "promote the algae bloom"..... :)

              I plan on getting Trophs when the tank is empty

              and if you have ever seen a tank in full bloom it is quite amazing to say the least ! and I am not talking about the slime crap

                I am working on the same thing and it was growing really nicely, but on one of my rocks the algae has turned a deep brown color. Is that good? Or is that Bad?

                            But once you add the Trophs how long will the algae population stay. How will you continue the growth?

                              Tropheus can not graze down to the rocks, their mouth structure does not allow for it.
