  • fixing tanks question need advice

i just got a ten gallon and a 20g long... both of the bottoms have cracks....
i was thinkin since they will be on dressers with the bottom on a solid flat surface, could i silicone over the cracks? option 2 is get glass cut to fit in the bottom and seal it with silicone... i know it would be better to just replace the bottom but i was wonderin if i could do it cheaper... thanks

If it was me, I would not bother. You can find a 20G for $20. A 10G costs you $10, maybe even less.

It's too much work trying to fix yours. Even if u did, they might soon leak all over your stand and room, it's not worth it.

im with rage its cheaper/easier to buy new ones but if you really want to fix it deffinatly replace the glass. its not that hard to do.

I have a couple of small (5 - 15g) tanks that I have siliconed over the cracks and they work just fine. But in the future I plan to silicone a small piece of window glass over the crack as added strength and a double leak protection.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
