Inter-Frontosa Breeding

i was wondering if it was possible for Burundi's and Mpimbwe to breed with each other. It sounds simple enough to me. The reason i'm asking, is... i wanted to put my burundi in the same tank with the Mpimbwe but if they're gonna do dirty things to each other, i wont.

Yes they will cross breed. If they are not of breeding size and age... I wouldn't worry about it right now.

I agree with Dave, unless your fish are 3+ years old I would not be concerned about them cross breeding. Good luck

Hey Steve, as soon as i can sex these guys, i promise you, i can give you a male or two. i'm scared i'm gonna accidently give away a female and i NEED these guys to breed.

man i can tell you from experience, they will breed. I have an alpha male mpimbwe in with my mobas and they have spawn several times, however never to full term.

if you have ever seen the fronts with x bars, that is suppose to be an example of bad breeding practice but i have seen underwater pics on cyphos.com of WC Mobas with x bars also. So it can really go either way, i think for show purposes ppl tend to discard the fronts with the x to keep the frontosa specie pure and tight. If two x bars fronts breed who knows what you will see, not only that who would want them.

oh yea breeding with fronts is by accident, then once you figure out what you did to get them to spawn then you keep doing it. Look at RonR. moba factory, he is putting more mobas out then matel puts out Barbie dolls.
