Well something I had not expected. Maybe inexperienced mother or something.
I had just feed the fish this evening.. wanting to make sure that since two of my fish where holding in there I wanted to make sure that the others where not bugging the holding ladies.
As the meal has been completed by the other fish, suddenly the Hongi female decides to just spit all of her eggs out. First a clutch of about 15 eggs came out and everyone joined in eating the eggs, and then about a minute later she spit at least another 10 out, and everyone around her eat her eggs. She ate her own eggs or tried to bring them back into her mouth. Then the mbamba came over and started to show his colors to her again like.. well since you dont have any eggs left lets go at it again.
Has anyone observed this before. Btw I believe the other hongi female who was holding.. did the same... because all the hongi as of this morning where eating normally. My big Chipoka who had been holding for two weeks, no longer is, but the smaller female is now holding. Noone is bothering her.. but I am going to pull her next weekend to make sure that she holds longer in peace.
