They would survive in your mixed tank but they probably will not thrive: no breeding and coloring up. If you can, give them a tank for themselves. They didn't look as good when I grow them out with other fish, and definitely no breeding at all.

Do you think that eventually the Hongi could live in my mixed upworld or would I need to do a species tank? I'm really leaning towards a species tank but I'd still like to know if my mixed tank could be possible.

However, due to size, the yellow lab would probably kicks the Hongi behind anytime.

I'm REALLy surprised that the socolofi backs down to her. Especially since she's been so timid for so long.

From research some people are saying they're a little more grumpy than the yellow lab. Sounds like my socolofi which isn't bad. Last night my lab and socolofi were telling each other off. it's always the same with those two. They're quiet funny. lol

Another moma is holding today. I'm glad that they like their new home.

They are not aggressive like Demasoni or other Mbuna. They are super active though. I'm thinking they will mature at about the same size as demasoni.Originally posted by Beth777 View PostAre they acei grumpy or auratus grumpy? I'm just curious since I haven't had a lot of different mbuna.
PM me if you want some to try out.

I can't wait until I see fry in my 75, even though I probably won't try to save them. It was years before I ever saw any fry in there.
Those fish of yours are so gorgeous. I love the colors.

Like any Mbuna, they are aggressive conspecific. They are in a tank by themselves.
