Need help !! New red jewel fry in tank !

Very pretty fish. I have had the female kill the male. Protecting her baby's. So moving mom and dad is a good idea.

It is really up to you where you go from here. Yes, many cichlids care for their fry until they are ready to spawn again. if these are new parents, they may not know how long to care for the fry and its a trial and error, but they will spawn again, generally every few weeks or so. At that point, the current fry are at risk. Most people move the parents to another tank and raise the fry in the spawning tank. jsut provide some cover for the fry....plants, holey rock, etc. others move the fry to another tank, but I prefer removing the parents if I have another tank available. adults can adjust to new water params easier.

the fry will eat essentially anything they can get. film on plants/rocks, broken down flakes, etc. but newly hatched brine shrimp are common in the beginning. you can also get liquid fry food or powdered fry food. use some water with the powder in a cup, suck it into an eye dropper and squirt near them. just watch the parents because they may very well nip your hand if present with the fry. you can graduate to finely crushed up flakes when they are large enough.

keep tabs on the water conditions and change like normal. you can just siphon out some water staying clear of the fry. jewel fry are fairly hardy, so as long as you keep the ammonia/nitrite levels at zero with a constant pH you should be fine.

If you have another tank set up to move the parents, that would be easier than trying to catch those tiny fry. Maybe wait a week to let the parents enjoy their fry, but I would separate them out after all. They will eat the fry.

I have few questions about red jewel fry care. I researched and it says red jewel pair will care for their babies.
When should Or how soon should I do a water change ? When is it safe to remove fry from tank ?
