Barret - A little driftwood would be awesome. I posted a slight re-arrangement of the rocks - do you see anywhere some of your wood might fit (thats what she said? hah. gross). I finally found my Pleco after ~ 24 hours of looking here and there . I've got some algae growing and I'm adding some veggies, so hopefully mr. nugget is full.

Just some crappy iPhone pics, but I'm happy!

FTS Shot - That rubberbanded moss is getting scrapped.

    Bit o' green:

This guy owns the tank along with my largest Auratus:

Nice new addition! I'm sure he'll enjoy his new home. Got any wood for the little guy to chew on?

It's great to see the water clearing up. I figured it would be looking good this weekend. Do your water change when you're ready, leave the uv sterilizer in there a little while longer to be sure you got it all, and then let's hope it doesn't come back when you take the uv sterilizer out. GW usually is more of a problem with new tanks or newly scaped tanks so it should settle down as your tank ages even without the uv sterilizer.

    Day 3.5!

The tank is almost crystal clear, now. I'll do a water change once I wake up a bit more.

The boys also got a new friend:

    2" Gold Nugget

Now everyone has some growing to do!

I don't know anything about these fish, but from the little I've read, you want a lot more females than males due to their high levels of aggression. So having a lot of females isn't a bad thing.

Meant to add that none of the auratus are showing male coloring yet, so I'll probabl wait I'm I can root out some of the males. Assuming I didn't end up with 10 females... Lol

    Haha.

No water change yet. You're right about the filters still being responsible for removing the waste. I'll check both when I do the water change, hopefully tonight but might not be til tomorrow.

My iPhone camera creates more of a glow than what you see in person, so the water shows up a bit cloudier in the pictures due to the base effect from the camera. I'm really happy with the improvements so a big thank you to you guys for helping diagnose and suggest the uv sterilizer :). I almost want to get another power head to keep the flow there when i take the sterilizer out!

Next in the list is LEDs, a pleco, and possible exchanging some of the auratus. I'll also be adding a few more plants. Probably java fern tucked between rocks. The moss is getting shredded :)

I can definitely tell a difference. If you look at the first pic you posted and compare it to this last pic, the difference is very obvious. The uv sterilizer is cleaning things up nicely.

Check your filter to make sure it doesn't get clogged. I believe the uv sterilizer kills the algae, but doesn't remove it. I think the dead algae gets removed from the water by your filter. Although, a slightly clogged filter will help remove smaller particles so it's best to not over clean if the filter isn't actually clogged.

Things are definitely looking better, food and pepto notwithstanding

Actually, I got this crazy tequila/tomato juice/orange juice/jalapeno puree/hot sauce drink... All food remained in mah belly.

In person, I'm continuing to see improvements... but the pics, again, don't show it.
