Probably go with shellies, maybe stappersii/meleagris or gold occies. The seller of the comps wants to grow out a pair or trio for me so I might try those again. I can't even think at this point... kinda just waiting to see what happens with the little lady that's left in my sorry tank.

It's happens to all at one time or another, salt water aquarist I'm sure can tell you dreadful stories of losing an entire tank due to marnie ick. I know I have...

So I've lost 3 out of my 4 comps, and those 3 were the ones that had to endure the unexpected 5 hour transit time. The one that I picked up later, which was only in the car for about an hour, is looking much better today. A little more active than before, not dark, and not breathing too heavily. Maybe she'll make it.

Did a 40% WC last night without adding more salt (I think the salt +/- the dying comps was doing a number on my white clouds). Turned the circ pumps and the light back on today, and will try feeding a little bit tonight. Given that the 3 comps that had the longer transit time are the ones that died, it seems like the cause was probably some gill damage and general stress from transport.

Possibly starting to turn around now. How'd feeding time go?

I don't think you should give up on them just yet, you gotta at least give it another try!

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like you did all you could for the little ones. Definitely don't give up. We've all had our setbacks--we learn from them and move forward.

                                Definitely don't quit.
This hobby is usually learnt best by spending money and trial and error.
We've all had this happen at one point or another.
These are a gorgeous little tang.
Don't let this discourage you from them, treat it as a tough lesson learned and know you did all you could and move forward on this setup.
Its a great tank and I think if he's willing to grow out a trio I would give them another shot.
