            Wow, nice lens!

One of the best all purpose walk around zooms from nikkor. It should hold value well.

Nice pics! I particularly like the third one. .
                Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

What lens do you recommend for taking pictures of fish.

Your lens actually does fine with taking pictures of fishes......results as soon by those great pictures! :)

IMHO, when taking pictures of fish in fish tanks "lighting" is really more important. There are two major issues we face when taking these types of pictures.

                          1) Fast moving subjects require higher shutter speeds to "stop" the movement. With higher shutter speeds, you need more light or the picture you take will be too dark.

                          2) Adding more lights from flash will cause a flash reflection on the glass. You have to angle the camera some or crop out the flash reflection in some type of editing software.

I my personal experience I found two ways to resolve these issues. 1) Put as much lights over the tank as possible and use no flash. Often times, I add my MH fixtures over a tank to get more lighting. 2) Use a remote flash and position it on top the tank so it points down. This way the light source is coming from the top. Which avoids the flash reflection problem and makes the picture look more natural b/c light naturally comes from the top down. The second option is the most realistic. It allows me to take pictures of other peoples tanks without having to move their fixtures around. It also saves me a lot of time.

I recommend a used sb-800 if you can find it. If not, I recommend a sb-600 flash for the d90. That camera has commander mode so you can use the on board flash as the commander and the remote flash as a slave.

Once you get lighting down, all the pictures will come out "better" with any lens you use.
