I thought this was the Emperor Cichlid.
Good luck. I'm ready to convert my pond if need be!

Wow, that's a lot of fish
. Not knowing anything at all about them except what's been posted here, I was wondering if their head shape morphs as they mature. The pic of the adult shows a lot of forehead over small eyes and the fry, I'm guessing they're fry, seem to have a dip in their forehead over their eyes, or their eyes are a lot closer to the top of the head than the pictured adult. Maybe it's just that they haven't grown into their eyes yet
. That's fascinating info on the the adults if the fry are left with them. How large are they now? It will be interesting to watch them grow and you add on to your house to make room for them
.

IMO..... 10ft 500g would be considered a holding tank for these guys but that's just me.

Reading up on a few websites, I would say keeping 1 pair would require about a 6ft 240 or better yet 8ft 300. They like the emperor cichlid spawn only once unless you remove the babies from them. Within a few weeks of having having babies, the cichlid will start absorbing its own body. If the babies are removed before they are about a week old, the parents will resume eating and within a few weeks spawn again.
The writer I found said his pair where in a 225 and their size was 18m/16f inches.
Big fish for sure :)
