Picked up a used D200 with grip today off CL. Looked into various setups and decided this was the best one for the asking price. Still looking for a fair utility lens so I can do glamor shots of my fishies.

        Anything besides a 18 - 55 VR lens that's reasonable?

Trust me, my fingers are itching already. Got to find a decent lens first and them game on!

I saw that camera on craiglist. Nice find. Where are all the canon folk? All Nikon up in here.

Thanks! I was close to buying a Canon man, but the more I read about this one the more I like it. I'm working out a deal for a 60mm 2.8 soon as my main fish lens which might end up being my main lens if I like it as much as I think I will.

I prefer the 35mm f1.8 and 50mm f1.8 as a fish lens/ everyday lens but some people like the 60mm f2.8. All comes down to preference I guess.

Canon or Nikon, can't go wrong with either or. I would avoid the 18-55 vr unless you can get it for dirt cheap like 50 bucks.

                      +1!

18-55 is best used as a paper weight.

I started with the 50/1.8f. I still use it on fish shots. Its a great group shot lens for fish.

You can also try the 50/1.4f. I tried Jim's and its a low light beast. Bokeh looks nice too.

No 18 - 55 VR for me. Sellers want $90+ for them and that's not worth it and the plastic lens mount is a turn off.

Since this is a DX body, should I worry about "crop factor" when picking up any of these lenses?

I plan on hanging on to this one long term so I will slowly add some nice 1:2.8 lenses as I go.

Baller camera at bargain basement price. Couldn't pass it up
