Thanks Marshall. Can you recommend a certain lens for everyday use? 50 1.4? Or is the 60 2.8 good for that?Last edited by SunnyHouTX; 04-20-2012, 01:44 PM.

great camera for the price. you absolutely want nothing slower than an 2.8 lens. a great lens is the 85 1.8
try keh.com for used stuff, they have been around forever. also about the crop factor. i say ignore it, it's kinda irrelevant unless you already have a good idea of what the lens will give you on a 35mm FF system.

I plan on hanging on to this one long term so I will slowly add some nice 1:2.8 lenses as I go.
Baller camera at bargain basement price. Couldn't pass it up

+1 on any lens with VR...
I love my 35mm 1.8 it has a metal mount and best buy carries it so it is easy to get lol...
But that is a baller camera so you need baller glass LOL

Canon or Nikon, can't go wrong with either or. I would avoid the 18-55 vr unless you can get it for dirt cheap like 50 bucks. No 18 - 55 VR for me. Sellers want $90+ for them and that's not worth it and the plastic lens mount is a turn off.Originally posted by myjohnson View Post+1!
18-55 is best used as a paper weight.
I started with the 50/1.8f. I still use it on fish shots. Its a great group shot lens for fish.
You can also try the 50/1.4f. I tried Jim's and its a low light beast. Bokeh looks nice too.
Since this is a DX body, should I worry about "crop factor" when picking up any of these lenses?

Thanks! I was close to buying a Canon man, but the more I read about this one the more I like it. I'm working out a deal for a 60mm 2.8 soon as my main fish lens which might end up being my main lens if I like it as much as I think I will.
