This tank has about 1L of Purigen in the sump. Do it man.

As soon as I am "done" with the tank a new fish or plant pops into my head then you put the sump idea in there too ... you're killin me!

I originally got a tank to just throw some fish in, my friend said it would turn into an addiction, I think he was right.

Houston fosters the aquatic addiction quite well.

They do that In a community tank. They will eat them rather then let other fish eat them. The Angels will do the same thing.

I put Purigen in the filter and the water hasn't shown any discoloration. Its been in since Saturday. Not as clear as your tank but im very happy with it.

                      Purigen is the king!
So what are your plans next? More plants? Fish?

Im going to upgrade the light and add more plants and hiding places. On a budget but a friend of mine is sending me some fittings (if he can find them) so I can get a t5 bulb he recommended.

Fish wise all id like right now is another Pleco maybe, something different. I have 3 albino right now. Few guys on here have nice ones I like as do the LFS that posts here.

Since I put purigen in it week or so again. I like it. I did have a spike in nitrite and amonia. Amonia was .5. Nitrite was minimal, there has been no other changes in the tank except the Purigen and a neon tetra is missing, presumed eaten. I did a water change, any ideas on what might cause it ?

Your tank might be going through a mini cycle. Could also be the ghost of the dead neon tetra.

I was thinking the dead fish was it, I did a water change anyways so I will check again tonight. Its the first time ive had ammonia in months too. What causes a mini cycle usually ?

Any number of reasons really. It usually means that the established amount of nitrifying bacteria is lagging in handling the added ammonia source. But it normalizes in a couple of days or so. If the fish aren't showing any signs of stress, I'd just let them be and observe. You could also add a dose of water conditioner like Prime or Safe to lower the ammonia and nitrite levels a bit.
