Screw multiple pieces of manzanita together for a more branchy effect.

Im thinking of doing something similar to that except with small fishing line. I dont want metal in the tank, unless its supposted to be there. Have you had experience with manzantia wood? If so tell me about it. The only driftwood i've used as of recent was african root wood.

It there a wood that acts as a natural ph buffer?

Man I have contimplated useing larger pieces of drift wood that give that effect but, these are my reasons for not wanting to do it:

Dont wanna have to move them when I want to clean underneath
I like haveing the realestate for fish

Youve got to keep in mind that I plan on having the following in the tank.

29-30 Geophagus Tapajos
2 Geophagus Bahia Reds
2 Guianacara sphenozona
6 Geophagus Balzani (maybe working the logistics on these)
10-15 Corydoras(maybe 20)
1 Giraffe Cat

I'm wanting driftwood but im wanting something thin and branchy. I want to have multiple pieces of something like this for the fish to swim through and feel more safety than what large chunk driftwood.

I cant lie, I dont like anything sticking out of the tops of tanks, to me it looks tacky. Seen the pieces EK's got, but I just aint got any cash to spend right now. Im broke as a joke. I like the ones at HAW a lot.

You can have the dw pieces look like they're coming from out of the water and look like roots without having the pieces actually sticking out of the tank. This was part of my original thoughts on how to set up my tank (roots and tree trunks). I have this piece of dw that looks like a trunk, but it's a bit too small.

some massive pieces oof DW that look like tree trunks and roots coming into the water. Mixed in with the rocks you already have.

Thanks man. The rest of the build is gonna be kinda slow going. I know certain things still nee to be done like the wet/dry and tops and lights but thats gonna have to wait for a bit. Funds are gone. August has been a hell of a month. My son plays baseball and found out for everything hes going to be doing now its gonna run just over $400. Wife and kids take priorety. my stuff goes on the back burner. But its running. I may just go buy shop lights for the time being. I have a canopy for it in the garage, but I wont get to work on it much today. My orders for the night are to clean up "my mess". Gotta keep mamma happy. She puts up with me and my addictions.

I'll transfer these guys minus the clown loaches in about a week or so. Wanna get the wet dry hooked up first and make sure water flow is going good. My giraffe cat is going to move in with them as well.

Well the tank has been filled with water!!!! The eheim 2260 is running. Ill be turning the heater on soon. Pictures are cr@p but im using my old camera to take pics right now. And theres no lights on it right now. Next is to get the two pieces of glass i need cut. Rocks were just placed in the tank to ensure the egg crate didnt float during filling. No chemicals have been added at this point. Wanting to take advantage of the chorline in the water to ensure nothing is alive that doesnt need to be in the tank. Prime will be added in an hour or so.

Well made it to lowes in time. New fittings for the overflow. I'll make a stand pipe later.

Trying desperately to get to lowes before they close so I can get some fittings for the overflow. Wife had a bad day so that may not happen. Oh well, washing my pfs. that will go in tonight. It's coming along nicely though. The tank has been around the block before, not the nicest but its gonna do the job nicely.
