Decent beginner DLSR.
If you didn't already know....it's all about lighting (flash) and lens.
You can great pro looking shots even with a beginner DSLR if you have the right lens and light set-up.

Good choice on the d5000. I'm picking up a Canon T1i next Friday. Look at the d5000 i couldn't get around that flippy screen. If it had a larger, higher res., fixed screen on the back I would have gone nikon.

Use onboard flash, no external flash yet
Mostly automatic closeup mode
Once I get external flash will tinker with manual settingsComment
