Standard, I do about 70-80% once every 5 days. I suggest you do less if you don't have a carbon bottle.

B/c your tank is new and you are only feeding lightly I would do 30-50% weekly. Then kick it up later if you want.

Nothing does a fish better than clean water. Water coming out of your tap or sitting in your tank may not be prefect. Can't tell unless you check.

I can't agree with this more. Basically, you have to provide them with a good environment (healthy water, physical environment to their liking), and then let them figure it out. It takes time for fish to settle in. They not only have to adjust to the stress of being moved, but they need to figure out their own territories and hierarchy. If you keep messing with them during this time, you'll just keep stressing them out.

I generally perform weekly 50% water changes. I'm not sure what is recommended for trophs. But whatever it is, that's what you should do. Only perform extra water changes (more often or more water) if there is a true need, such as the tank cycling or going through a mini-cycle.

I think it's helpful to test the water regularly on new setups to ensure that the tank is cycled and handling the load of the new fish and to get a feel for how fast the nitrates accumulate. This will help you to know how much water to change out and how often to do it.

As far as feeding 3x a day, cut that back to just 1x. I generally prefer to offer enough food all at once to be sure it gets throughout the tank so every fish has a chance to eat (and not just the most aggressive or fastest fish), but I want the fish hungry enough to eat the food quickly. I like to feed things such as frozen baby brine shrimp. It creates a blizzard of food all over the tank so all fish get to eat, but it's very small and gets eaten up pretty fast. I also make sure I have enough scavenger fish to eat whatever food gets caught up in caves so it's not left to just rot. That's why I added the 7 small petricola cats to my 90g tang tank.

As long as the water quality is good, then leave the tank alone. Perform regular maintenance on schedule, such as weekly water changes. Otherwise, let them be.

Man, let me tell you about them damn Sun Sun chinese crap.

I bought a pair for $30 that supposedly flow 1300gph, my K4 is flowing more than those things. Not to mention 1 of the Sun Suns broke on me after a week in operation.

+1 on the sunsun. got friends in OZ been using them for years on tropheus tanks. Don't know why more people in the states didn't know about them until like a year ago.

Don't get the k8. It looks like a monster in your tiny tank. Get the K4 and mod it. Or modded MJ.

Nah I just upgraded the bulbs on my T6. Things bright as hell!!! I'm going to save up a little bit and get some GOOD lights.

The Mbitas are coming along nicely. Very active, lots of dancing, and they even follow me around. Thinking about picking up a Koralia 8 (3250gph) off Ebay for $130. They really like the flow in the tank!
