Random can be good depending on what you are going for. Remember life isnt orderly, plants dont grow in a straight line.

Thank you for pointing that out Brian.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I see what Rhett is talking about only because I see the same scapes at FG. Its the same thing I tell the service guys when they brag about their tanks. plants are all symmetrical order and doesnt look natural. ADG has a completely different design from FG. In my opinion ADG is more natural FG just looks pretty to the untrained eye who buy tanks as a piece of furniture and not to actually care for the fish. but i digress. I dont think Rhett was being a party pooper he simply wants his brother to step it up a notch. then again im sure his tanks at home look more natural and fit the fish.

Randall, also we all understand that sometimes its not what YOU want to do but what the customer wants. It makes a huge difference. 99% of the tanks we scape at work I think look like crap.

Just a few pointers. Your work lacks color. I wish you'd use some fluorescent gravel. It's more natural like you find in the ocean. What's with all the wood. Why not something artistic like a scuba man or a large clam shell with bubbles. Very amature. Please don't take offense. I'm just trying to be constructive. You should also use a back ground to give depth. They now have some with coral and underwater scenes. Those plastic plants have got to go. Fish don't feel safe when there's too many things in the tank. They like it like the ocean. Everyone knows that. They sell a great kit at Petco that's got Nemo's picture on it. I aquascaped it with multicolored gravel , a hippo that bubbles (to go with the Nile theme). I went with neon pink and green plants and blue plastic coral. It's about 2.5 gallons. I have kept several rare species such as 8 comet goldfish (I'm told the grey ones are hard to find) and irridecent sharks (They're freshwater sharks). They mysteriously died. I think it's the fish plague. Here's pics of tanks to inspire you.
