  • Easiest way to get new water to correct temp during water changes?

    New to the hobby...

During water changes, I'm finding one of the most time consuming pains is getting the new water I will be adding to the correct temperature to closely match the existing water in the tank. I put the bucket under the tub faucet with a thermometer probe (like a meat thermometer) in the bucket and adjust the water hotter/colder until it gets to the right temp. This often takes dumping some water out, etc. I feel like there must be a better way.

Any of you pros out there who can enlighten me?

I don't like to add hot water to my water changes because you will get gas in it. It's best to have a water storage container and put the new water in there with a heater. Let it heat up for a few hours, then use a pump to pump in your tank. This would obviously have to be done before draining the tank.
