  • Help installing bulkhead

I have a bulkhead that just won't seal. I was told you just screw them tight. It's still leaking very slowly. Should I silicone the back of it? Or if anyone knows what their doing I'd be happy to pay you for your time and trouble.

Does the bulkhead have a rubber washer?

It doesn't. It just has the gasket on the inside.

This seems to be the consensus. I will go pick up a washer tomorrow
Do I need to do more than hand tighten it? Like a wrench?

Maybe quarter turn with wrench after hand tighten. Should be plenty

I would remove it and inspect the back side of the flange, the surface that meets the gasket. I had a bulkhead with an imperfection, and it would have never sealed unless I trimmed off a plastic nib.

I know I'm bumping an old thread but just wanted it to be clear that the bulkhead and rubber gasket is installed from inside the tank and the nut is installed on the outside. I've sometimes put silicone inside the tank for a better seal.
