  • 5 gal reef tank

This is my first saltwater tank. All I have so far is the tank itself. I need advice on what equipment to get to make this as easy to take care of as possible. Filter, light, heater, thermostat, etc. Please help thanks.

good luck! im planning a 20g long nano. but my understanding this is going to be difficult considering the constant monitoring of water parameters and water changes. let us know how it goes. btw what do you plan to have in that tank?

in my case im starting with an aquaclear 50 for mechanical filtration. Im wanting to turn my daughters 10g into a sump and ditch the aquaclear once everything settles.

I've seen these little Nanos sitting on the counters next to the register when you walk in some of the Lfs and they look cool so I thought I'd try to build one. Just need a little guidance to get what I need and then I'm sure I can go from there. I have several freshwater tanks but never tried a saltwater before

same here. my reason for a nano is lack of space. I thought about a biocube but the overall cost was going to outright kill me.

so far iv spent 350 for tank, filter, uv sterilizer, glass cover, hydrometer, digital timer power strip, heater, and im sure im forgetting a few things. on the want/need list is live rock, live sand, salt mix, orbit marine led light, and a bit of luck.

All I got is a tank that had a clown killifish in it until my sister took it tonight. Now I can start the conversion as soon as I get my equipment that I need.
