I wouldn't want the girls to be miserable and stressed. They look very content on youtube videos but of course that's only seeing them for a few minutes.

My little one is turning red and coming to me every time she sees me now.

i have heard of people having all female colonies. just like any other semi-aggressive species, each female needs to have their own area and a good amount of cover to escape if needed. in a 75gal that was a huge space so the two females didnt feel threatened by eachother. put those two in like a 5 gal and you might have issues with one dominating the other. the minimum number i would start with is 3 so the agression is spread around, but the more the better.

never heard of two males co-existing so kudos to you ptran

Was surprised myself. I'm thinking they are cool because of the presence of other community fish in the tank.

That's what I think too. They have others to distract them. I'm debating on putting something else in with my girls when I get them.

I had tried putting them in a 10gal and one became so aggressive that she wouldn't allow the other one up for air. I don't know why I didn't just try adding more. The sorority at Unlimited seems to do fine. I always spend a little time watching them and they seem to all get along real well.

My little one is doing great.

LOL I've read about that happening with buying baby bettas. You think you've got all girls and suddely you realize there's a boy in the mix. I've got them named. I'm taking the guppies out of the 20 and putting them back in the 10 and going brackish. Then my girls will go into the 20 with crazy pleco and frogs. I'm not sure what other fish I would want to put with the ladies.

Think I might go with 7 females. There was a gorgeous green one at the store. I hope she's still there. This morning my little one looked kinda purple instead of red. Pretty neat getting one without color and watching as she develops.

That's the best thing when raising fry: watching them color up.

If they have more without color I will definitely get those, but I sure do want that green one.

Seriously, you should try to breed them. That way you will have all of them without color.

If you like fish with less or no color (and more exotic), I recommend Tanganiyka. :emt_thumbs:

Very true! Less color but amazing! I'm still enjoying my brichardi. The fry are so cute.
