  • cyprichromis microlepidotus mboko help!!!

I bought 23 young adult breeders from a well known source 3-4" fish. But the problem is I've had them for 1 month they do the typical cyprichromis male flash dance and stuff but the colors are not what I was expecting. Anybody here have this variant? Does it take longer for the colors to come in?

Micro variant cyps are very inconsistent but can be the most beautiful of them all. I know they go through color morphs and the older they get the better. What are you feeding?

Nls, golden pearls, decapped brine shrimp eggs. It's kinda frustrating considering it's 1k in fish.

Did you not see the fish before purchasing?

Not the actual fish for sale. This seller is well known and respected so I didn't ask questions just paid.
          This was an online transaction.

i dont have personal experience keeping these fish, but will ask the standard questions:

            Tank Size
            Filtration
            Water Params
            Environment/Decor

yes these fish do take time to color up. if something is stressing them out they can morph to dull their colors, or if you are male heavy the lesser males could be dulling their colors too.

that is a large investment for a colony (1k). i personally would have wanted to see what i was buying before committing. even then you cannot be 100% sure all will turn out like you expect

Cyp color won't be as you expected until they finally breed. After they successfully breed the first time, their coloring will be matured by then. So I'm thinking you still got a way to go.

              How old are they?

Can you share some photos of the Cyps and your tank?

When they breed i would be interested in the fry. Good luck with your cyps. Check out the forum on laketang.com for additional information on cyps.

That is fantastic! Let the bidding begin! Seriously, let me know if you are interested in selling the fry or trading for livestock.
