  • New shrimp tank question

    Hey guys,

apparently Tim (armthehomeless) is no longer on this board as I cannot get any response from him at all for several days. So I will try to get my answer from the general board.

I am setting up a Sulawesi tank and was wanting to put things in there to keep the PH up. Has anyone used fine black sand as a substrate? Would this keep the PH up?

I am also wanting to use these as my stone decor.

Is there any suggestions on moss or plants that do NOT require CO2 in the tank, or that the sulawesi shirmp would like?

That should work. Looks like a nice stone too. Driftwook and other stones may lower ph a lil.

Most of the moss won't required CO2, Plants can be without CO2 in the high light. But might getting algae and green dot. I used Java Fern, crystalwort, and java mos without any CO2. They are not in anytrouble and look perfect for me. Good luck on your tank

There is no moss for carpet. It would ruin the beauty of the aquarium

Most mosses prefer lower temp... And Sulawesi show my like higher temp. It isn't the beat mix IMHO.

I have used fissidens fonatus in cooler water tanks.

I've got several low light non-co2 plants in my shrimp tank that do great:
                        java moss
                        Asian Ambulla
                        Ludwiga Repens
                        Bacopa Monieri

everything could currently use a trimming.
