  • Tropheus Moorii "Nkonde"

Picked these guys up from Rene @ The Cichlids Place Sunday. 44 in total in trios. Bought 58 but ended up losing 13 due to an overnight nitrite spike that I managed to get ahead of with a continuous drip water change over two days. The rest are doing great as you can see in the video. Two dominant males have already staked out their territories in the back ends of the tank and are already starting to dance for the females.

Yeah. I was sweating bullets all of Monday.

Hooked this up to the sump and stuck the hose from carbon tank in the main tank and let it run through yesterday at a decent drip.

That's awesome. Reflective of just how much home aquarium keeping has changed in the past 3 decades.

So much more knowledge out there now.

This is how I'm gonna do fresh imports from now on. Continuous drip for a few days then start meds as needed. Don't know why I didn't figure this out till now, have had everything I need under my nose.

Forgot to mention, they already started eating my "Bentley Pellet Mix" (to quote Trophish). So happy about that. Shrimp mix coming up as soon as I can get to making more.

So you can't call 'em "BG brownies" anymore. Need a new name!

I've only had these for a few days. Colors will improve with a good diet and as they get settled in more.

It's an overflow hooked up to the sump to keep the level in the sump steady and to take out water as fresh water is put into the main tank. Google "continuous water change" and you'll have plenty to read about this.
