  • Center Brace Repair

So there's a 135 gallon tank I like but center brace was cracked. It's been siliconed but I'm wondering if it is safe or if there's a way to add another brace for security. Can't find much info online.

My bow front seems to be holding well with that new piece of glass I put in several weeks ago. The plastic brace broke so I just cut it out and had a new piece of glass cut to fit.

How would I put a new center brace in?

Razor blade the old one off. Apply new one with silicone.

+1. Remove the old silicone and clean the glass then mount the new one. Wait at least 48 hours to make sure the new silicone is cured.

If I recall correctly with half inch glass it has to be special order also.

Also with that kind if brace it tends to fall. I would take that glass off and go with a euro brace with like 3/8" glass

I acquired a 150 a few years back that needed the same attention. I replaced the center brace....but I also added 2" angled aluminum to all 4 corners. Haven't had any problems since.
