  • My first planted tank

Well here is my first attempt at a planted tank. Thank you to Sasha, Roy and Chester for giving me the starter plants.

Plants in there include java ferns, needle leaf java ferns, bolbitis, wisteria, cabomba, cryptocorne wendtii, and more i dont remember the names of off the top of my head.

    Any suggestions are welcome :)

Looks better than my planted tanks . . .
      Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Great looking tank Ken! Lighting looks good and am looking forward to seeing it as the plants really take off. We always like seeing more planted tank folks

Thanks guys. i was surprised how quickly the space got taken up. now i know why people go with longer tanks at times (like chester having a 12L or a others with 20L). still it was fun setting the tank up.

Tank just has two 10w CFL bulbs (6500k). how long should lights really run each day? I have them on timers, but didnt know if there was an good range so algae doesnt take over (no snails or oto cats or anything yet)

Chester - No fish are in there yet. Just plants, wood and rocks. The biggest piece of wood is brand new, so i am going to wait to see if it does anything screwy to the pH first. The smaller piece i had from years ago. Once i see no changes in pH and chemistry, i will figure out what to put in it. Probably will be cherry shrimp to start with then maybe turn it into a breeder later

That might be where the tank is headed eventually :)

like mine. but I'm not investing in any special light for my 10g nano =d, but you're kinda making me going there again...

I am sure i could put far better lighting on there, but i wanted more low maintenance plants and was told this would be sufficient
