  • Multiple rams

Anyone keep multiple rams in the same tank? We have 6, two electric blue, two gold and two angel rams.....then I read you shouldn't keep them together. So far they seem to be ignoring each other, but I'm wondering if it will be a problem down the road.

If they are fine now then they should be fine as long as they are in a big enough tank. I have had multiple apistos which is the same and they did fine.

6 might be pushing it in that size. You can sell me your blues.

Lol, those are my favorite fish. I'd be willing to give up the angel rams though

I should mention that my emperor tetras are the real terrors in the tank. They chase everyone. If I had known that I would have rethought getting them.

I have had Bolivians and blues together. The bolivians killed the blues. But bolivians get an 1 1/2 bigger then blues.

Usually rams do better in a harem. Could the reason they shouldn't be kept together be possibly crossbreeding?

Makes sense. I don't plan on breeding, but if it does by chance happen I'm sure the fry will become fish food.

No rams and apistos can be mean conspecific. But if they survive the first week or so then they should be fine. Given tank size and if any decide to pair up.

Good to know. I am thinking about adding Bolivians to my tank with apistos I will think about that and make sure to monitor their interaction.
