    DIY recipe for African Cichlids

Most Ingredients I got at central market. I used organic but you can use whatever you want to.

First boil 1 Yam and 1 Zucchini and let it set while you prepare the rest of the ingredients and add to your food processor last. Make sure to take skin off first.

Add the following ingredients in your food processor or blender

1 Apple - cut in chunks first.

1 1/2 cups Broccoli or 8oz package frozen Broccoli

1 1/2 cups Romaine Lettuce ... I know hard to measure a good hearty handful will do.

1 - 8oz package of frozen Spinach .... I usually let it defrost for about a 1/2 hour before I prepare recipe.

    1 - 8oz package Green Peas

2 tsp Minced Garlic - Why garlic you ask? Garlic is an additive for there immune system and helps them to fight off parasites, and over come stress naturally.

Now add all ingredients including the Yam and Zucchini to your food processor and blend until it's paste texture.

Now put all ingredients in a big bowl and add the following.

2 tsp of the spirulina powder -health food store or Central Market

10 drops of the vita chem-

1 cup of 100% all natural carrot juice.

You can add meat ex fish, shrimp, beef hearts etc if you wish I put a cup of 2 types each.

Now you will prepare the Gelatin using agar powder- health food store. Don't use Knox gelatin as most DIY recipes tell you to use as Knox gelatin contains bones and is not easy for your fish to digest. I buy my agar agar powder on eBay and it is cheap and it does not contain ground up bones.

Boil 1 pint of water in a small saucepan. Stir in the 2 teaspoon agar powder and reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring well so that the agar doesn’t stick on the bottom of the pan.

Now add to your bowl with the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

Now pour a good amount in zip lock baggies and flatten with your hand before you zip up the baggies. You will need about 6 to 10 zip lock pint baggies. Now you can stack them in your freezer on top of each other.

I let the bag sit out a 1/2 hour before I feed the fish so it's easy to break off chunks and add to the tank.

This will last about 6 months for a fully stocked 60 gallon tank my fish love it and so does my fry.

Nice looking ingredient list. I too make my own food with shrimp and krill for a good source of protein, and supplement that with pellets.

            HOMEMADE FISH FOOD..THECICHLIDSPLACE STYLE...

Using the European shrimp mix and some creativity (more like research), I've come up with a new recipe. If you've tried the European shrimp mix, then you're ready for this recipe.

            4Tbsp Spirulina power
            4Tbsp Chlorella power
            4Tbsp Kelp power
            4Tbsp Hemp protein powder
            4Tbsp Moringa power

            ... 2lb whole shrimp
6Tbsp of mysis shrimp (freeze dried)
            6Tbsp of Krill
1lb salmon (ONLY NEEDED if food isnt for herbivores)

            1lb Carrot
            1lb Green peas
            1lb Spinach
            1lb Brocolli
            1lb Green beans

            4Tbsp Soy flour
            4Tbsp Red Maca powder

            1Tbsp Garlic (grind the garlic)
            1Tbsp Paprika

            5Tbsp Calcium Montmorillonite Clay
            Multivitamins

            4Boxes of Gelation..

            Steps
            a. Grind all of the vegetables, and whole shrimp
            b. Use food processor to further grind it to a smooth paste
You may need to add water...
            c. Add all of the ingredients to the vegetable&shrimp paste.
            Mix thoroughly
            d. Prepare Geleatin
Add 2-3cups of water cold water and mix
Add 2-3cups of boiling water and mix
            You're done.
            e. Slowly mix the gelatin into the veggie concoction
or just pour it over the fish food and stir like crazy
            f. Put into either ice-cube tray or freezer bags and freeze.
            g. If you use ice-cube trays, remember to remove the food
and put in a freezer bag
            h. Now feed to your fish.

PLEASE USE THIS RECIPE AT YOUR OWN RISK...

            Thanks,
