  • Poret Filter Pads from Swiss Tropicals

I talked to Stephan today and he confirms that any amount of stuff ships for 12 bucks as long as we dont buy the 40 x 40 sheets which would cause a UPS oversize charge. I plan on buying some of the 19" x 19" sheets to make HMF and my own canister filter pads. I will be ordering on 1 June if anyone else is interested. Prefer paypal in advance or similar. See his product line here:

Bear in mind I can meet along BW8 from the NW to NE side of town in the evenings, so I wont be delivering these to Clear Lake etc.

I am putting a HMF on either end of a 75 gallon each with a 150gph powerhead, for that application he suggested the 3" x 30ppi in the 19.5 x 19.5 sheet. for smaller aquaria you could use 2".

For use as particulate filtration in a ~350gph canister filter he suggested 30ppi (i assume 2" thick) as final filtration and maybe a 10ppi as coarse prefilter. The 30ppi wont polish, he suggests floss for that.

bump from the dead but for those that bought some for use as a HMF filter what thickness did you guys end up going with and what ppi?

Is it working out as planned?

I am wanting to use this as a tank divider in my 75g sump.

I was thinking about ordering some more.

are you just trying to divide or filter with it as well?

                      Filter and divide

It will be to section off part of my 75g sump so it'll be doing both. Main purpose is to divide though

It is pretty solid stuff so anything 1" or thicker would work...

I'm gonna have some serious flow against it so I was thinking 3-5" minimum.

Have a 3000gph powerhead pushing against it as well as my pondmaster AP-40 airpump.

Maybe some 4" like I need then. It is pretty sturdy...
