  • New second koi pond build

It's been 7 years since the build of the first pond. It is here:

    http://www.houstonfishbox.com/vforum...-on-the-bottom!

Now, I recently started on the second smaller pond.

Agreed. And those underwater pics were pretty cool too! :) Can't wait to see how the second pond turns out.

                FML!

Instead of spending money on a new car you dug a pond.

                Now that's ballin!

The window is a nice touch. Was that a major factor in wanting the second, smaller pond? Or is it meant as a quaratine or grow out pond or breeding pond--or just because you wanted another?--lol Could you give us a few more overall pictures of the first pond if you get a chance?
While I'm not reef ready, I am salt ernate lifestyle curious...

This second pond Is for the males and smaller koi I'll grow out. The big pond is for the champion females.
I don't have any new pics of the original pond, too lazy to take the pic now, maybe later.

I GC this project myself, the gunite is cheap considering how much the rest of it cost.

How big of a pond are you looking to build?

                            Gunite!

Here are more pics, the first is the prepping and covering before the spray, gunite is messy and the concrete sprays everywhere so they had to cover the surrounding areas.

For those tha don't know what gunite is let me explain. The cement and sand is premixed in a truck and it is pumped dry from the back of the truck into a hose and mixed with water at the outlet of the hose. After it's shot out the guys will carve out the shape of the pond. Pretty cool!

Guess what this idiot is standing on?

Pics of the guys shoveling the "rebound" out of the pond. This is the left over concrete. It's almost dry like sand.

                            More pics to follow later.
