  • April Meeting...New Tank!

The April Meeting will be at Kevin's on the 28th, and we are setting up a new tank. But that's not all...we are also going to be setting up new hardware...the likes of which, to our knowledge, have never been used in the US before.

Meeting will be at 1:00. PM Kevin for address/directions.

Don't forget to bring plants for swap, and if you haven't paid dues (or joined yet) we will gladly accept your $10 contribution.

Also to be discussed at this meeting, do we want to do a group buy of a new micro-fern that has not hit the market yet? It's a risky investment but this little plant looks to have some great potential...more details at the meeting...

I would be interest in the Micro-fern. Does it grow on wood or in gravel?

          Mini Bolbitis?

I may not be in town, but I would still be interested in the group buy. I can PayPal both the cost for the group purchase, and this year's membership dues. If I am not out of town, I'll be at the meeting.

What part of town will the meeting be held? About how long do the meetings last?

HI. Sorry for the confusion. Kevin is "kwc1974". The meeting will be at his house in Pearland. The mini-fern is not the mini-bolbitus...it's a new introduction that we are suspicious of, but the photos do look to be submersed growth. There is only one person selling it that we know of, so if he still has some after we've discerned it, that may be a decent sign that it is indeed aquatic.

I'll go back and find the name of the plant and post here.

As far as the new equipment...I'll let Kevin answer that.

                  It's this plant:

Within the Hymenophylacaea family, the genus Hymenophyllum seems the most likely candidate for aquatic plants (likely requireing CO2 addition...in my best guess). Other than that, I know nothign of this plant...and we really don't know it's proper ID. It's a risky buy, which is why we would entertain a club-sponsored order, or just a group order...but I certainly would not shell out any money on my own just ot have it not survive in my particular tank.

We'll talk more about it at the meeting. In the meantime, you all have a starting point for gathering data on it if you wish (and I hope you will).

I'm in, even if I have to go it alone. Let me know if there will be a group buy.

                      Thanks!
