Hammers and frogspawn are either a big win or a big lose in my book. Some do really well, others just die and go to hell. As for clams, Maximas, Hippopus, and Crocea clams need a ton of light (similar to SPS). They are never collected deeper than 20 feet deep in the wild. Squamosa and Derasa clams are super easy. They are usually found between 60 and 90 feet, and require much less light.

I'm looking at a TEK fixture. I'll have two MP10s by next week. Should I switch the Skimmer? It is still NIB.

My wife will want movement, so clams are probably out.

Which skimmer did you get/decide on?

Some tweaking and it'll work fine.

I always prefer to go over what its rated for. I ran the octopus 300 on my 30g.

Frogspawn and hammer almost impossible to kill. Torch on the other hand can be tricky.

Lost a few torches over the years to brown jelly disease.

Bigger is better but this will do if you decide to run it.

Honeslty with softies and LPS you can live with water changes and no Skimmer if you wanted.

Corals don't need food so you can keep the tank relatively clean without a Skimmer.

But corals seem to look so much better and grow faster with feeding or water column feeding.

Yeah it's set up... in the corner of the house with all the goods in the stand....still in the box.

As far as up and running... don't think so.

I'm slowly getting there. I set up another tank to transfer the shrimp that are currently in the tank just yesterday.

                              Okay . . . I finally have everything except the plumbing. I have 4 x 36" HO T5 . . . but I don't like the look of it. I was looking into other lighting options.

Looking at 2 Kessil LEDs or 2 AI Nano . . . or possibly 1 Radion . . . but don't know if that will work. Thoughts?

Oh yeah, who wants to help me plumb this thing after finals next week so that I can get it up and running?
