Wanted: Fluval fx5 carbon pads any extra media

City Pets has biomax at a pretty decent price. In my own opinion the polishing pads will become saturated with crap very quickly and if you don't like cleaning out your FX5 every week or two I wouldn't use them.

You don't need to get fx5 specific padding, you could just use poly-fil or similar pillow/quilt stuffing as long as it's not mildew or flame retardant.

As for the carbon pads, those don't work or has enough carbon properties compared to regular activated carbon pellets/granules and since they waste pretty quickly in a well stocked tank it would be a waste of money.

I agree w/ EK.
I run 2 x FX5 on my 300g and bought a lg pond pad & cut to size for bio. Just used cheap aquarium polyfil to polish up the little stuff. Bagged my own rechargeable carbon.
Do love the canister - have lots of fish & am sure I over feed & it keeps up :)
