    Disaster

    Came home from work, and my 165 was empty, my canister filter's hose came off and drained everything but about 3 inches.....

    what a mess, i have finally gotten everthing cleaned up after 3 hours!
    Soon to have tanks up and going again!

    you werent using hose clamps im guessing? what kind of filter was it?

      Did the output get clogged or something? I always thought that it would take quite a bit of back pressure to make the hoses pop off.

        Wow! Sorry about the mishap. I've always been scared of canisters for that reason. I've heard some real horror stories...

                i only lost 1 clown pleco, who was in the drift wood hole, i am down to 2 now....it is an old, OLD fluval, I should really sell it, and get a new one.......but just don't have the money right now!
                Soon to have tanks up and going again!

                  Sorry to hear that you lost one Pleco... but I'm glad that you didn't loose everything. Trust me...we all understand about the money. We're in the same boat. !!! If I were you, I go to Loews or Home Depot tomorrow and get several of those metal hose clamps. The ones that you have to screw down with a screwdriver.These clamps will get as tight as you can screw them down.

                        That's the problem. Fluval canisters make better doorstops than filters. I had one and the motor burned out in a year. Gave my partner Geno a Fluval (which was supposed to be the upgraded version) a few years back and the motor on that one burned out in a year as well. Trash! Sorry for your loss.

                            He has a couple of tanks. He had four but he gave 2 to me. He likes silver dollars and serevums.
