  • Is this a deal?

I recently got in contact with a lady who is selling a 210g Oceanic tank for $625. She's had it for 6 years and comes with a tank, stand, 2xMagnum 350 canister filters.

From what I understand aquariums that's been in use for 6 years would probably be in need of a reseal. Do you think this is a good deal? Reseal jobs usually range from $75-$150.

I figure $500 would be a good price for something like this.

    I've seen 210g for from free-$600.

    7ft 210 ?
    6ft 215 ?

There is a small difference. The 215 is a little more expensive.. Because of the taller glass.. but nothing spectacular...

Oceanic stand or are we talking about a knockoff or custom ?
I am thinking the price of about $500 is about as much as you should spend on this. Lights better come with it

It's a 7ft. The whole thing I'm guessing is Oceanic. But there isn't even a Oceanic trademark on the trim at the bottom right. The lights that come with the tank are the little cheap ones that usually come with brand new tanks...

Could be the old way. But yes a few years ago Oceanic put "OCEANIC" on the bottom right of the trim on the tank. Don't believe they do it anymore. I also heard the old Oceanic tank has a lot of problems. I have one myself with a cracked bottom.

I've had a couple of the 7 foot 210's. Never had a problem and they were probably as old if not older. Who told you it needs to be resealed? Depends on the quality, but I'd say $500 is a good price since it includes two canisters, stand, and lights. What color? The oak colored ones aren't much to look at, but serve the purpose.

Like a dark cherry wood. The trim looks like it's in bad shape.

If I was to get it I would repaint the entire thing black. From what I hear aquariums need a little rejuvenating around 6 years old, and a site that talks about resealing aquariums. The lady was originally asking $700 but considered going as low as $600. But I don't think I'm going to pay anymore than $500 because 210s pop up too often on Craigslist for usually less.
