  • Leaf-Tailed Gecko shedding

Okay, I know this isn't a reptile forum, but surely someone here can tell me something about gecko's shedding and what to expect....how long should it take? I read about gecko's having problems shedding and getting infections. Ours just started shedding this morning...how long before I'm supposed to worry?

My roomate of several years ago had a gecko.. and it took about 2 days to shed its skin.. after 2 days you will find big pieces (unless they eat it which my roomates did) and you will notice the skin and nice and shiny. He would get a misting bottle and mist the little guy every day and it seemed to help him too.

I love it when you can see the little sucker marks of their feet on the glass.. you can see them running around the tank all night long..

Cool...I'll give it a couple days and just keep an eye on him. He's really cool! I mist him several times a day every day, so maybe that'll help too.

shoot a pm to onesickpuppy on here. I know that he used to keep/sell/import reptiles. I would probably be able to help you.

**** shed several times while over here. He never seemed to have any problems with it and he was done in a couple of days.

This thing put **** in place of his name. Is there some king of a censor built in. I guess I'll just call him Richard.

What type of leaftail is it?? I have satanics. It sounds like your humidity is too low. They should shed in 1 day.

Yes, and no. The gecko's name is the nickname for 'Richard', which could sometimes be a curse word. I guess we could spell it Dikk to avoid any confusion.

Hi Matt!! Glad to see you posting. (everyone...Matt is my cousin and he's a lurker...although he doesn't like to admit we are related)

As for the humidity, we have him in the most humid room of our house, the living room which has 4 tanks, plus I mist him several times a day.

**I just checked on him and he looks to have shed all of it during the night!! :musik:

                        Thanks everyone!!
