  • Your favorite discus "colors"

So Dan says it's better not to have too many colors of discus in your tank. I was thinking maybe 2. I love the golden...darn, can't remember the name. They are yellow with orange fins and eyes. I also like the pigeon blood snake skin. My understanding is the pigeon blood can cause black speckling. If anyone can explain that it would be appreciated.

My personal preference is for the wild colors. I think the blue/brow, green and heckel are most beautiful.

I like the wilds or darker snakeskins. I was there yesterday I think they are called golden somethings or another, I can't remember the whole name either , very striking color. The checkerboards are really nice looking as well, just too small for me.

first, in my personal taste discus is one of the most beautiful and graceful cichlid and freshwater fish out there, i don't have any discus, never had because i could not provide a adequate home or care, but i will one day, and when i do, the following is my preference:

          1) Symphysodon heckel - wildtype heckel
          2) Symphysodon aequifasciata haraldi - wildtype Blue
          3)
Symphysodon aequifasciata axelrodi - wildtype Brown
          4)
          Blue Diamond or Cobalt
          5) Red Melon

personally, i think only one type of at least 6 fish look most spectacular, mixing takes away from the look

My First Discus where the brown discus.. and I consider them still one of the most beautiful. I am very impressed with what has been done with breeding manipulation, but in the end I am still most impressed with the brown, blue and Henckels
