  • Annual East Texas Herpetological Society's Breeder Expo 9/14

Just got this in my incoming email concerning this years reptile show:

Here are the details on the upcoming Annual East Texas Herpetological
Society's Breeder Expo.  We hope to see you there!

The 18th Annual East Texas Herpetological Society's Breeder Expo and
Educational Exhibit will be held Sunday, September 14th at the
Brookhollow Crowne Plaza Hotel, located at 12801 Northwest Freeway (Hwy
    290) in Houston. It is the largest herp sale in our area and will offer
thousands of captive bred reptiles and amphibians as well as cages,
books and supplies from 60 vendors coming from as far away as New York,
California and Florida in 8000+ square feet of exhibitor space. The Expo
will be open to the public from 11 AM until 5 PM and admission at the
door will be: Adults $6, Children Under 12 $3, Infants free.

GCTTS will operate an educational booth at this heavily attended event,
and we welcome any GCTTS member volunteering to help us with this event.
We provide a turtle and tortoise exhibit, answer questions to those
stopping by our table and hand out educational material. In the past,
some GCTTS members have volunteered for the entire day, some for half
the day, and some for just an hour. We are asking that anyone wishing to
exhibit their turtles or tortoises allow them to be there at least half
the day from 10:00 to 1:30, 1:30 to 5:00 or all day. And we are also
looking for set-up help at 9 AM. If you can help man our booth or
exhibit animals, please send an email to info@gctts.org and let us know
in advance! There will be no charge for admission to the educational
    room.

This event offers an excellent opportunity for GCTTS members to meet
with many reptile breeders in the surrounding area and to assist people
seeking information regarding turtles & tortoises. It also gives GCTTS
members a chance to get to meet other members of GCTTS and exchange
ideas and information regarding turtle & tortoise husbandry.

If you would like further information on the expo and annual conference,

I went to it last year and it was cool! When I went they had nice driftwood pieces.
Fish are people too, they just have gills.

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I have been to this one a few times too.  Sold a monster pair of Burmese pythons one year and bought a few snakes back when I was into reptiles.  There is a lot of interesting things to see to say the least.

Re: Annual East Texas Herpetological Society's Breeder Expo

why a ball python? they are some of the worst eating snakes overall....there are so many other options of snakes that are non agressive and stay small and eat regular.... main problem with ball pythons is that almost all ball pythons are wc.... they are so inexspensive and plentyfull in the wild that they are cheaper to collect than raise and breed.....if you can find captive hatched that would make the best pet.... but i would stay away from wcs.... i also have been to eths show over 10 times and it used to be huge.... three rooms of stuff but now it is down to one small exhibit room..... anyway reptiles where my first pet passion for about 25 years but because of daughter and size and space off animals... fish is a way better way for me to go... but one day i will have snakes again.....
210 gallon tank...empty.....wait till you see what is coming

so, no one here into lizards or turtles?  :?
Snakes are not the ONLY reptiles that can be kept as pets. Personally, I own 3 common musk turtles and one Vietnamese leaf turtle.
