  • Telmatochromis sp. "Temporalis Shell"

These guys seem to be more aggressive than other shellies. They are definately a fish to consider if you have more aggressive fish like the Lamprologus and Neolamprologus species.

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

      Re: Telmatochromis sp. "Temporalis Shell"

I'll take a tank shot tomorrow if I have time. I love taking pictures now...

I have them in with Julidochromis, Eretmodus, Cyprichromis, and Albino Bristlenose. Most people say not to put shellies in the same tanks as Julies, but I think these would work.

I've heard stories of them holding their own with breeding Lepidolamprologus

          Tim,

Have they breed for you? Are they WC stock?

Sweet looking Telmatochromis sp. haven't ever seen them in real life.  Thanks for sharing.  :emtthumbs:

Those are the ones that steal females from other males I believe.....pick up the whole shell and all!

Cool addition Tim! Seen them a few times but never had the space for them.

Here are a couple pictures of the tank and tankmates. Keep in my that this was kinda thrown together because my hexagon tank started leaking, so I moved all these guys to a standard 55. I'll add a black fabric background soon.

Hey Tim....  I know its not black, but have you thought about putting that "std" blue back ground (ie a lighter color) ?
Borrow someone's reversible background and paste it up for a day just to check it out.. I always wondered with the dark rock if it would "pop" the fish more :)
Else I really like that rock background that you can get at Petstores these days (the paper ground not the aqua-terra stuff)

Do you know someone that had a blue background that I can borrow? I've always liked solid backgrounds because I found alot of the others too busy... and detracting from the fish.
