Re: No reserve 1000 gallon OKC

Realy want something bigger now like a 180  or some sort of show tank. I have a 75 that needs to go away. What size is the 600??    That is if you decide not to keep it.

Wow.   Mine arrives in about 2-3 days.  I would love to see pics if you have any. Problem is after seeing th 1000 gallon I feel so inadequate with my 135,75,55's and the other tanks I have.

A 1K gallon tank is useless unless you have a storefront and even then, its a waste of money.

bethesdaboy, why do you say it's a waste of money and useless?  I'm just curious.  If I had the money and time and space to build something like that into a wall of my house, I think that would be SO cool.  I'd either plant it with a ton of plants and have loads of pretty FW community fish, or maybe get some of the FW Puffers and other larger fish in there.  Or, if I was really rolling around in piles of available cash (LOL), I'd do an awesome reef in there!  Woooo   :P   I can just imagine building this into the wall of my living room where the tv is now.  Just sit back and watch.  Just daydreaming......

Its rather wide to use as an in wall aquarium.

It's an ugly tank.....crap dimensions for so much water IMO.

I guess I should clarify, its just my opinion on that tank.

As someone pointed out the dimension are bad.

With that much water weight you pretty much have to have the tank on a slab.

In wall? I don't know but there is no way I would put that in a house with that much water.
That is a ton of moisture that will be coming out that much water.

Maintenance in my mind would be also be a real challenge. Scuba?

Upkeep and health will cost you some money and time. Disease in the tank?

Lighting? I am not sure of what wattage is needed or would even look good at 4ft depth but I would assume it would cost some coin to get that many halides running on it.

Now a 10, 12 or 14 feet long tank about 30 inches deep and 500-600 gallons would be ideal in my mind.

... and if you have to try and sell some fry from that tank... you are looking at having to drain it.. because there will be no other way for you to get to them otherwise

Re: No reserve 1000 gallon OKC

I just thought of another question. What is the cost to make a tank that size. I am speaking like materials. If I was to buy all the materials and have them shipped to my door, would it be less than the drive there in gas and all the hassle.  I would think if you are building a tank that large, you could almost have the material pre-cut to your specs.  Let me also say that I would build the tank myself.

If I had my choice I would prefer this tank to be about 30" wide or some thing close.

                              Anyones thoughts

                                Cost wise.....that tank is cheap.

But if I plan on shelling out that amount of money (tank/cost to get it home) I would just get one built the way I want it.
