  • Saturday at Mike's place...

Saturday I passed a very pleasant time at Mike's Tropical Fish and Pets; it's more like a neighborhood place than a retail store, although Mike has a very nice set up, great fish and stuff...the atmosphere is quite pleasant and you feel like spending some time there.
I like the selection and the prices, and Mike!
Reba brought me a beautiful Green Sailfin Mollie in trade for my fry-devouring Synodontis acanthomias, and I also got some pretty Platys donated to my community tank.
The best part of the visit was getting  up close and personal with Spoon, her adorable Sugar Glider...my 6 year old daughter had a great time getting to know such a charming creature; unfortunately, unlike her Dad (me!) she has no access to pets of any kind and is growing up with no contact with the warm and fuzzy.
So, Spoon was a sheer delight for her, walking around with a Sugar Glider sleeping inside her shirt, or perched on her shoulder. She will never forget the experience.

I haven't seen your catfish since I put him in my cavernous mixed tank.  I'm sure he is having a blast.  There are many hiding places for him to explore.  I'm glad you like your sailfin, I hope he has shown you all of his coloring.
It was wonderful meeting your daughter.  With her love of animals she is going to keep you busy:-).
Mike's girl Spoon is a character.  Once she found a dark warm place to sleep....it's all zzzzzzzzz's for her.
IT was a nice afternoon at Mike's.  Good to see you both.  I too had some nice trades and things to take home.  I now have two heavily planted tanks, shrimp hiding, angels flirting, and an awesome brown knife fish that lives in his sunthetic driftwood.  When he comes out he is amazing.

          Re: Saturday at Mike's place...

I was there Saturday, but I arrived after he closed :(   Then I drove Mike home and watched movies and played chess with him.  Some great games.
I wish I could have gotten there earlier but I had a ton of work at home and I ended up with a Sinus headache which thank god went away later that night.

I have yet to put the planted tank back together, and one of the female guppies showed her appreciation for living temporary in a big tank, so gave birth to at least 6, but I cannot count them all... so now I am going to have to work on getting the tank together, move the guppies back, catch the young and put them in the 10g hospital tank and let them grow up there :)

Got the 58 moved today and the Christmas tree put up..  The 58 will get white sand and my Leleupi's and Brichardi's are going to have a nice big tank to play in come next weekend after the Burnet Rock trip where I am going to get holey rock for it and more :)

I am so excited..  Sorry for stealing the thread :)
