Anyone excited for the long season ahead of us?

How about todays App St. and Michigan game...that was intense

Texas (my fav team) didnt do so great, but came out with a win.

Any other thoughts, teams that you all would like to discuss?  Besides fish, college football is my thing.

I cannot believe Michigan lost at home, and to a Division I-AA school.

I just think it would be one of the worst PR moves.  At the quarterback posistion, your the team icon for most if not all clubs. Your the captain, and posterboy for all your professional functions, volunteer events, and other charity items.

How could you build a strong community, with positive light, when at each turn the media or animal rights people are going to be banging on you at press conferences, and every time your in public, with what has happened.

I just do not think it would be good business, not to mention how wrong it really is.  Has the trial started yet?

If he is found innocent, then absolutely no problem with him getting back into the NFL, if found guilty, I would not let him back on my team.

How could my quaterback be a leader, and let himself get envolved in that.  Kids, fans, and other teammates look to him as the leader of the team.  To be a leader such as this requires morals, and those morals should be love and respect not hate and cruelty.

Gal. 5:22-23 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Try looking at this topic from another point of view,

Why do you suppose Steve Irwin was so popular and mourned accross the globe, it was because of his love and compassion for animals and they're right to exsist with us "humans" on the earth.

What Vic did was just the opposite, and most folks would not only be uncomfortable or sickened by what he did, but outraged at his participation.

He deserves some time in the slammer if you ask me.

But seriously, they need to make him realize that what he did was totally wrong. Even if dogs are sub-human, they can still feel and think on their own level. I'm no animal rights activist or anything, I'm actually far from it, but I do believe in animal welfare! I really wish people would stop babying celebrities and make the punishments fit the crimes!  :badsmiley:  What is this world coming to?

I'm not a Vick supported by any means, he is a gifted football player by every possiable facet.

But, we are looking hooked to what the media is feeding us. Vick was not the person who killed the dogs but allow people (friends) to live at his house.

Nevertheless, we as a society have never address the truth (media) only the sub critical aspect of what is cause news today.

1. Iraq War
2. Gas prices.
3. Raising numbers of people without proper medical care
4. add to the list

This is what the world is coming to now....reality shows, "famous people spending 45 minutes in jail o charges that would land one of us in jail for 6 months min.

And since we are on sports...lets talk about the nba ref who place bets on nba games......some of the games he officated.  This is much bigger then Vick story but we allow main stream media to lead us down the path that they choose for us.

I'm sorry, I know dog fighting is a huge underground sport that date back to old europe but this coverage is stupid and a waste of time.

FYI,

He plead guilty because he was gulity of assocation not for fighting dogs.

I am Texas A&M Alumni and Aggie Footbal Fan.

I'm glad to see A&M pre-ranked in the top 25.

Last year we beat Texas, and a great number of my friends went and got their veichles inspected in December, just so they could get 12 - 7 as their next inspection date. WHOOP!

This year will be another good year, but still have lots of room left to grow, and the wrecking crew will again be dominate once more.

He DID admit to participating in the killing of the dogs.   The only thing he did not admit to, and denied ... was betting on them.

I agree that there are far more important issues plaguing out world.  However, I believe it is important, especially to my students and students all over, that they are shown that no matter how "great" the man, the man is not above punishment.  Anyway... just my little tidbit.  I did catch the astros/chicago baseball game.... hmmm rough one.
