  • Anybody interested in some Zebra and Horned Nerites?

I have finally located some of both which are Neritina natalensis (Zebrasnail) and Clithon corona (with spikes) and they look great. The price I have found for them is $5ea. with probably about $30 shipping.

I am going to purchase some myself and if anyone wants some we can split the total cost....I will say that we will also be splitting any lost since this is not something I plan on making money off of it. I will probably need money up front so that I don't lose out on those that flake on me.

If anyone can find a better price do share but if not please do not hate and trash the thread. Oh, the person has up to 50pcs. available.

If these don't leave eggs all over everything like standard nerites do, then I might be interested.  As it is I've tossed nerites in the pond as I run across them.  The eggs are a PITA to deal with, even tho they don't hatch.

I've never really had any problems with the eggs thing with my olive nerites.

wouldn't bother me so much if they'd lay them on the back or sides.  having to razorblade every time I clean the tank is the pita part.  I'm pretty sure mine are plain olive nerites.  got them online from azgardens a while back.

I don't notice the egg part in my outdoor ponds tho  :)

If the eggs hatched it would not be so bad.
I hate having to scrap the eggs off of the glass.

The horned ones look pretty cool.  Now if there were just a way to superglue their egglaying hole shut....

do they not successfully breed in captivity or do they need special circumstances to hatch properly?, and if the eggs don t hatch arent there some fish that would eat the eggs?

ooh and also are they safe for plants or do they eat them like the common pond snails.

Re: Anybody interested in some Zebra and Horned Nerites?

They do reproduce (quite easily) in captivity. They just don't reproduce in freshwater (they need brackish or salt for that). As far as I know most nerites are plant-friendly.

I don't know if there is something that would eat the egss or not.

These things are really good at eating algae in the planted tank and will not disturb anything, as for the eggs I haven't seen much of it in any of my tanks.

I assume that you are going to do shipping based upon the percentage that each person buys, ek?

Yeah the shipping will probably be split according to order size. I think it will be about $30  for the it shipped

Here's a list of fish I've tried with my nerites, hoping they'd eat the eggs.  Negative results thus far:
