  • Dog Face Puffer

Typically puffers are sold at a fairly small size and if you already have an established tank, they may be too small to add in. I'm curious if there is a market for me to buy a small dog face puffer, keep him until he needs more than my 125g and then rehome him. I don't want to buy him without having some sort of plan. As much as I would like to, I can't just bank on having a larger tank by then. Is this just a terrible idea or could I possibly get what I want and help someone out at the same time?

Do you know if a puffer can grow that fast? If they don't grow that fast, maybe you can keep him long term. Large tanks pop up for sale on HFB and craigslist all the time. Just a matter of waiting for the right one to show up when you're looking and able to buy one.

I was skeptical of getting a Fahaka Puffer for my 90g freshwater tank. I've had him 6 months already and if he keeps growing at this rate I will be able to keep him for another year and a half or so. If a fahaka grows at the same rate as a dogface then you will be fine. But beware, you will get attached. I love this little guy. My only fish I've named haha and he is very interactive with me. Definitely an awesome puffer. I'm going to hate see him go when I sell this tank, which will be soon...
