Totenkampf - First frog is Ameerega bassleri Sisa.

mnemenoi - the only orchids that have really done well are the Lady Slipper. I need to redo a lot of my tanks as the substrate wicks too much water so to answer your question directly, a lot of them died. The ones where the drainage layers where higher have done well.

Cool, I have some slipper orchids and will certainly think about adding them to my vivs (they have not bloomed in years so it might just be the trick) and was reading on some other forums over families that seem to do far better in high humidity. I used to have some teeny micros (2" tall at best) that I had to keep in high humidity and have been looking for them ever since. We have a trip down to the heights planned when I get back onshore and hit up all the cool orchid/viv plant spots down there and see what they have...

wow the hobby sure has progressed since i left it. i wasnt even familiar with genus ameerega until now.

nice set of tincts. i enjoy some of the many color morphs running around but IMO you just cant beat the 'regular' old tinctorius and azureas.

i had good luck with jewel orchids in vivariums way back when. i didnt keep notes on which they were but after looking through some google pics i can see that they looked similar to ludisia discolor and macodes petola. I definately had goodyera pusilia, though they never bloomed for me. I liked them mainly for the foliage anyways.

Some species from Epipedobates were assigned to Ameerega. What for? Who knows. Not I.

I do use many jewel orchids but they're not easy to find besides Ludisia discolor. Macodes petola grows very well for me.

Oh hey Sasha! I'm sorry. Hadn't a clue!

Blk canisters are for egg laying sites. White ones are for tadpole deposition. You can see one in the lower right one.

That macodes petola looks pimp. What kind of light are you using, do the orchids need a bit of shade?

Breeding I believe, it mimics a bromeliads cup and the frogs will lay eggs in them and they are far easier to remove for rearing then an actual plant.
